SST-Geekshacking Capstone Project
Phygital engagement platform using NFC tokens to gamify networking and track sponsor ROI.
Context
Geekykey is a year-long capstone project I am working on for the SST-NP IDP programme and Geekshacking. It is a platform for large tech events like Hackomania that uses physical, 3D-printed NFC tokens together with a web app.
The goal is to make event networking less awkward and more trackable. At many events, participants tend to stay with people they already know, so Geekykey encourages them to interact by letting them tap NFC tokens, link profiles, and earn points. The same system also helps sponsors understand how many people visited their booths through stationary NFC/IoT kiosks.
The MVP is currently in development and is planned to be piloted at a Geekshacking event in May 2026. I am the project lead, coordinating with my team while working on areas such as the backend API, PostgreSQL database schema, NFC interaction flow, hardware sourcing, and kiosk firmware.
The stack currently includes React, Bun, ElysiaJS and PostgreSQL.
